Alien Life Engine

A world where every organism that can see thinks with an evolved recurrent neural network — and a quarter of that mind is not its own.

The shared quarter is written into a continuous spatial field around each creature and read back by everyone nearby. Nothing is taught and nothing is trained: weights are shaped by natural selection alone.

Hover or tap any color to learn its biological function:

Press V to toggle the collective field. Watch the map drift into regional cultures.

Neural Substrate

Every sighted creature carries an N×N fully connected recurrent network. Three quarters are private memory; one quarter is collective consciousness shared with local neighbours.

The state vector is normalised with RMSNorm every timestep with an inheritable gain, preventing explosion or signal decay over infinite mutation.

Sight is mobility: having an eye is what permits motion. Because vision bears an energetic cost, intelligence must continually pay for itself.
